NEET and JEE photo size in 3 steps
- Select your passport-size photo on a white background. 413 × 531 px (35 × 45 mm) and 10 to 200 KB are already chosen.
- Make the frame tight around your face, including the ears, so the face takes up most of the box.
- Click Resize photo and upload the JPG in the NTA application form.

The 80% face rule
Both bulletins say 80% of the photo should be your face, without a mask and with the ears visible, against a white background. That is a much closer crop than a studio passport photo, which usually shows the chest. When you place the frame, keep it tight: a little space above the hair, the chin near the bottom edge, ears inside. The tool does not measure the face for you.
The bulletins give the size in KB, not in pixels. This page uses 413 × 531 pixels, the shape of a 35 × 45 mm passport photo, which is sharp on screen and lands well inside 10 to 200 KB.
One photo for the whole process
NTA asks you to use the same photo for the upload, the attendance sheet at the exam centre and later for counselling and admission. NEET candidates are told to keep 6 to 8 passport-size prints and 4 to 6 postcard-size (4 × 6 inch) prints with a white background. Make the digital file from the same photo you print, not from a different selfie.
There is no correction window for uploaded images, and the NEET bulletin warns that computer-generated or Polaroid photos are not accepted. Cropping and resizing are fine; do not swap the background or retouch the face.
Live photo and signature
The form also captures a live photo with your webcam or, by QR code, your phone. For NEET it is matched with your Aadhaar photo, so the uploaded picture should be recent and look like you today. The signature is a separate JPG of 10 to 100 KB; the NEET and JEE signature page makes it from a photo of your signature.
