See a Photoshop design without Photoshop
Designers send PSD files, but without Photoshop you cannot even look at them: Windows Photos, Preview on older Macs, phones and most web tools do not open them. The converter reads the flattened picture that Photoshop stores inside every PSD, exactly as the designer saw it with all layers, effects, text and adjustments, and saves it as a PNG that opens anywhere.
PNG keeps transparency, so a logo or cut-out with no background stays transparent and can be placed straight on a website, slide or video. RGB, CMYK, Grayscale, Lab and Indexed files work, 16-bit and 32-bit too, as well as large PSB documents. If a file was saved with Maximize Compatibility turned off, the visible layers are put together instead; layer styles such as shadows and strokes cannot be drawn then, and the result may differ slightly.
Frequently asked questions
Does PSD to PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. If the Photoshop document has transparent areas, they stay transparent in the PNG, so logos and cut-outs keep their shape on any background.
Are the layers kept?
No. PNG is a single flat picture, so you get the design exactly as it looks with all visible layers combined. To edit layers later, keep the PSD as your working file.
Why does my PNG look different from Photoshop?
This happens only with files saved with Maximize Compatibility turned off, which contain no ready-made preview. The tool then combines the layers itself, and layer styles such as shadows, glows and strokes, plus adjustment layers, cannot be reproduced. Re-save the PSD in Photoshop with Maximize Compatibility on for an exact result.
Can I open PSB (large document) files?
Yes. PSB files, Photoshop documents over 2 GB or 30,000 pixels wide, are read the same way. Very large documents need a computer with plenty of memory.
Are my designs uploaded?
No. The PSD is read inside your browser on your own device and is never sent to a server, so client work and unreleased designs stay private.
