TIFF to JPG in 3 steps
- Select your TIFF or TIF files, or drop them on the box.
- Click Convert to JPG.
- Download each JPG, or all of them in a ZIP.
Why convert TIFF to JPG
TIFF is the format of scanners, fax software, professional cameras and print workflows. It keeps every detail, but the files are huge and most websites, phones and email programs will not show them. JPG keeps the picture looking the same at a fraction of the size, which makes it the format to share, upload or put in a document.
The converter reads uncompressed, LZW, ZIP, PackBits, JPEG-compressed and black-and-white fax (CCITT) TIFFs. A multi-page TIFF, such as a scanned document, gives one JPG per page, numbered in order. Transparent areas become white, because JPG has no transparency; TIFF to PNG keeps it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a TIFF file to JPG?
Select the TIFF or TIF file and click Convert to JPG. The JPG downloads straight away. For several files, or a TIFF with several pages, you get a ZIP with one JPG per page. Up to 20 files can be converted at once.
What happens with multi-page TIFF files?
Every page becomes a separate JPG, named page1, page2 and so on, in the original order. If you would rather keep all the pages together in one document, convert the TIFF to PDF instead.
Will the JPG lose quality?
Very little. Images are saved at 92 percent JPG quality, where the difference from the TIFF is not visible at normal size, while the file usually shrinks by 80 to 95 percent. Keep the TIFF as your master copy if you will edit it again.
What is the difference between TIF and TIFF?
None. They are the same format; .tif is the short extension from the days when file names were limited to three letters after the dot. Both extensions are accepted here and converted the same way.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are decoded and converted inside your browser on your own device, so scans of documents and private photos are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded it keeps working even without an internet connection.
