Real vector shapes, not a PNG inside an SVG
Many online converters just wrap the PNG inside an SVG file, so it still turns blurry when you enlarge it and a cutting machine cannot use it. This tool traces the picture: it finds each area of colour and draws its outline as smooth vector paths. The SVG can be scaled to a billboard, edited in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma or Canva, and cut on a Cricut, Silhouette or laser.
Tracing works best on pictures with clear edges and few colours: logos, icons, signatures, stickers, clip art and line drawings. Logo mode keeps each main colour as its own layer and leaves transparent areas empty. Black and white mode makes one clean black shape, ideal for vinyl, stencils and engraving. Photos can be traced too, but they turn into a poster-like picture with flat colour areas; that is how vectors work, not a fault.
Frequently asked questions
Is the SVG a real vector file?
Yes. Every colour area is drawn as vector paths, with no picture embedded, so it stays perfectly sharp at any size and can be edited node by node in any vector program.
How do I make an SVG for Cricut or Silhouette?
Choose Black and white and convert. You get one black shape with no background, which Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio import ready to cut. A clear, high-contrast PNG gives the cleanest cut lines.
Will my logo keep its colours?
Yes. Logo mode finds the main colours of the picture and gives each one its own shapes, so a logo in red, navy and white comes out in exactly those colours, with transparent areas left empty.
Can I convert a photo to SVG?
You can, but the result looks like a poster with flat areas of colour rather than a photo, and the file is large. Vectors suit logos and drawings; for photos, keep a JPG or PNG.
What PNG gives the best result?
A sharp picture at least 500 pixels wide, with clean edges and no blurry shadows or textures. Small or heavily compressed images give wobbly outlines, so start from the largest version you have.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Tracing runs inside your browser on your own device, so your logos and drawings are never sent to a server.
