EPFO photo size for the UAN profile

The EPFO member portal asks for a profile photo before you can finish e-nomination. Guides to the portal give the limit as a passport-size JPG of under 100 KB. This page makes that file.

Set to: 276 × 354 px (3.5 × 4.5 cm at 200 DPI) · Under 100 KB

  2. Place the frame over your face and the top of your shoulders.
  3. Click Resize photo, then upload the JPG in the profile section of the member portal.

Why EPFO wants a photo now

Your profile photo on the Unified Member Portal is used for e-nomination, where you name the family members who receive your EPF, pension and insurance money. Financial news sites report that the e-nomination cannot be finished without a profile photo, and that online PF claims can get stuck at verification when the photo is missing or old. Uploading a clear one takes a minute and avoids trouble for you and your nominees later.

The size limit, and where it comes from

We did not find an official EPFO notice with the photo rules; the portal shows them on screen when you upload. Guides that walk through the process agree on a passport-size photo in JPG under 100 KB, and some say PNG is accepted too. Go with the message on the portal if it says something different.

This page saves 276 × 354 pixels, the shape of a 3.5 × 4.5 cm passport photo, and keeps the file under 100 KB. A phone photo straight from the camera is usually 2 to 5 MB, which is the most common reason the portal refuses it.

Getting the photo right

Use a recent photo with your face clearly visible, looking at the camera, on a plain light background. Guides suggest the face should fill most of the frame with both ears showing. Do not use a group photo or one with sunglasses or a cap. To upload, log in with your UAN and password, open View and then Profile, choose Change Photo, select the JPG and save.

Frequently asked questions

What is the EPFO photo size?

Why does EPFO reject my photo?

Usually because the file is too big. A phone photo is several MB; resize it here to under 100 KB.

Yes. Reports say the e-nomination cannot be completed without a profile photo on the member portal.

Is my photo uploaded to your site?

No. It is resized in your browser and stays on your device.
