HEIC to JPG in 3 steps

  1. Select your HEIC photos, or drop them on the box.
  2. Click Convert to JPG.
  3. Download each JPG, or all of them in a ZIP.

Why your iPhone saves photos as HEIC

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container). It keeps the same quality as JPG in roughly half the space, which is great for your phone storage. The problem appears when the photos leave the iPhone: many Windows computers, Android phones, upload forms and online shops cannot open them.

Converting to JPG gives you the most compatible photo format there is, at a high quality setting so the difference is not visible. Batch conversion handles a whole holiday album in one go, and the photos are processed on your device instead of being uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Why are my iPhone photos HEIC instead of JPG?

The iPhone camera uses HEIC by default because it takes about half the storage of JPG at the same quality. You can switch to JPG in Settings, Camera, Formats, Most Compatible, but existing photos stay in HEIC until you convert them.

Is HEIC better than JPG?

Technically yes: HEIC stores the same picture in a smaller file and supports more colours. In practice JPG wins on compatibility, because every device, program and website accepts it. That is why most people convert HEIC photos before sharing them.

How do I open HEIC files on Windows?

Windows needs an extra extension from the Microsoft Store to open HEIC, and some versions of it are paid. Converting the photos to JPG here is free and the result opens in Windows Photos, Paint, Word and any other program.

Can I convert many HEIC photos at once?

Yes. Select up to 20 photos at a time and click Convert to JPG. When the conversion finishes, download them all together in one ZIP file instead of saving each photo separately.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser on your own device, so your personal photos are never sent to us or stored anywhere. The converter needs a few seconds to load the first time you use it.
