HTML files as tidy documents
Many programs export reports, invoices, emails and documentation as .html files, which open in a browser but are awkward to archive or send. The converter reads the HTML file in your browser and lays it out as a document: headings, paragraphs, bold, italic and underlined text, colours and sizes from the page’s styles, bulleted and numbered lists, tables with merged cells, quotes, code blocks, pictures embedded in the file and links. The PDF has real, searchable text on A4 or Letter pages.
The result is a clean document, not a screenshot of the page: menus, scripts, forms and videos are left out, and multi-column web layouts become a single column. Pictures that are stored on a website rather than inside the file are not downloaded; their description is shown instead. To keep the exact look of a live web page, use Print and Save as PDF in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a web page by its URL?
Not here: this tool converts HTML files. To save a live web page, open it in your browser and use Print, then Save as PDF. To convert it here, save the page first with Save page as (HTML only) and select that file.
Are images included in the PDF?
Pictures embedded in the HTML file (as data URLs, which is how most exported reports and emails store them) are included. Pictures that live on a website would have to be downloaded, so their alt text is shown in their place.
Is CSS styling kept?
The styles that matter for a document are: bold, italic, underline, colours, font sizes, alignment and indents, from style attributes and simple style sheet rules. Page layouts made with columns, grids or positioning become a single readable column.
Is the PDF text selectable and are links clickable?
Yes. The PDF contains real text that can be searched, copied and read aloud, and links to websites and email addresses stay clickable in any PDF reader.
Is my document uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and converted inside your browser on your own device, so contracts, CVs, reports and letters are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded it keeps working even without an internet connection.
