Markdown to HTML in 3 steps

  1. Select your Markdown files (.md), or drop them on the box.
  2. Click Convert to HTML.
  3. Download the HTML file and open it in any browser.

Standard HTML from GitHub-flavoured Markdown

The converter uses marked, a widely used Markdown parser, with GitHub-flavoured Markdown switched on: headings, emphasis, lists and task lists, tables with column alignment, block quotes, fenced code blocks, automatic links and strikethrough all become standard HTML elements. The page gets a short style sheet for comfortable reading, so it looks good as soon as you open it.

HTML written inside the Markdown is passed through as it is, as most Markdown tools do, so only convert files you trust. If you only need the content, copy what is between the body tags into your CMS, newsletter or static site and let its own styles take over.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Markdown to HTML?

Select the .md file and click Convert to HTML. You get one .html file with the converted content and a small style sheet, which opens in any browser. Up to 20 Markdown files can be converted at once and downloaded together in a ZIP.

Does it support GitHub-flavoured Markdown?

Yes. Tables, task lists, strikethrough, fenced code blocks and automatic links are converted as on GitHub. Code blocks keep their language name as a class, so a highlighter such as Prism or highlight.js can colour them on your site.

Can I use the HTML in WordPress or an email?

Yes. Copy the part between the body tags into the code or HTML view of your editor. The style sheet in the head is optional; leave it out and your theme or email template styles the content instead.

Is HTML inside my Markdown kept?

Yes. Raw HTML blocks and inline tags are copied into the result unchanged, which is how most Markdown processors behave. That also means scripts inside the Markdown would be kept, so only convert files you wrote or trust.

Is my document uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read and converted inside your browser on your own device, so contracts, CVs, reports and notes are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded it keeps working even without an internet connection.
