Transparent Signature in 3 steps
- Sign on white paper with a dark pen, take a photo of it and select it here.
- Keep the ink as written, or turn it pure black or blue.
- Click Make transparent and download the PNG.
A signature that sits on any document
A photographed signature carries the paper with it: a grey or yellowish box that covers the lines of the document you paste it on. This tool evens out the light, crops the picture to the ink and turns the paper transparent. Each pixel keeps the darkness of the ink as its opacity, so the edges of the strokes stay smooth instead of jagged, and the signature looks written on the page.
Use the PNG in Sign PDF, in Word or Google Docs (Insert, Image), or in an email footer. Ink colour can stay as written or become pure black or blue, which looks more even on printed forms. The photo of your signature is processed in your browser and never uploaded. A picture of a signature is not a qualified electronic signature: for documents that need one, use the certificate your government or bank provides.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make my signature transparent?
Photograph your signature on white paper in good light, select the photo and click Make transparent. The paper is removed and you get a PNG with a transparent background, cropped to the signature.
Why PNG and not JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so the background would turn white again. PNG keeps it, and Word, Google Docs, PDF editors and email programs all accept it.
Can I add it to a PDF?
Yes. Open Sign PDF, choose to upload a signature image and pick this PNG. You can place and resize it on any page.
Is my signature uploaded?
No. The photo is processed in your browser on your device. Nothing is sent to our servers or stored.
