VCF to Excel in 3 steps
- Select your VCF file (or several), or drop them on the box.
- Click Convert to Excel.
- Download the XLSX file and open it in Excel, Google Sheets or Numbers.
Every phone number in its own column
A VCF file can hold one contact or thousands, each with any number of phones, emails and addresses. The converter gives each kind its own column (Mobile, Mobile 2, Work phone, Home email, Work address…) and only creates the columns that are used, so the sheet stays readable. Notes, birthdays, groups, nicknames and custom labels from iPhone such as WhatsApp are kept; photos are left out.
Phone numbers are stored as text, so +44 7700 900123 or 0612 345 678 look exactly as they do on your phone instead of losing the plus sign or the leading zero. It reads vCard 2.1, 3.0 and 4.0, including Android exports with QUOTED-PRINTABLE names and Japanese files in Shift_JIS, which otherwise show up as garbled characters.
Frequently asked questions
How do I export my contacts as a VCF?
On iPhone, open Contacts, touch and hold a list such as All Contacts and choose Export, or select contacts at icloud.com/contacts and export them. On Android, open Contacts, then Fix & manage or Settings, and Export to file. Google Contacts and Outlook can export VCF too.
Can I combine several VCF files into one spreadsheet?
Yes. Select them all at once: Android often shares one VCF per contact, and the converter puts every contact from every file into a single sheet, one row each, ready to sort and filter.
Why does my VCF show strange characters in Excel?
Excel does not read VCF files properly, and older phones save them in encodings like Shift_JIS or with QUOTED-PRINTABLE text such as =C3=A9. The converter decodes all of that, so accented, Japanese and other non-Latin names appear correctly in the spreadsheet.
Are contact photos included?
No. Photos are skipped so the spreadsheet stays light and opens fast. Everything else is kept, including notes, birthdays, groups, company and job title, and custom labels you gave numbers on your iPhone.
Are my contacts uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and converted by your browser on your own device, so names, numbers and addresses are never sent to a server or stored anywhere. That matters when the list holds other people's personal data.
