Where these numbers come from

CBSE publishes the rules in the CTET information bulletin for each cycle. We could not open the bulletin itself, so the figures here come from exam guides that agree with each other for the February and September 2026 cycles: photo 10 to 100 KB at 3.5 × 4.5 cm, signature 3 to 30 KB at 3.5 × 1.5 cm, JPG only. Read the bulletin on ctet.nic.in before you apply, because CBSE can change details between cycles.

Why the 10 KB minimum matters

A 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo at 200 DPI is 276 × 354 pixels. Saved with heavy compression, a file that size can fall under 10 KB, and the form refuses it as too small. This tool saves the best quality that stays under 100 KB, which for a face is usually 20 to 60 KB. If the result is still lighter than 10 KB, it pads the file with empty bytes up to the minimum without changing the picture.

The photo is checked against your face on exam day, so it should be recent and look like you. Guides also warn that black and white or filtered photos get rejected; use a plain colour photo straight from the camera.

The CTET signature

The signature has a separate range of 3 to 30 KB. Open Resize Signature and choose 10 to 20 KB or Under 20 KB: both fall inside that range. The tool crops to the ink and whitens the paper, which gives a cleaner result than photographing the whole page.
