Reading JSON in a spreadsheet
JSON is how apps and APIs exchange data, but it is hard to read for anyone who is not a developer. Converting it to Excel turns an array of objects into a table: one row per object and one column per field, ready to sort, filter, chart or share with colleagues.
Nested objects are flattened into columns with dotted names, so {"address": {"city": "Lyon"}} becomes a column called address.city. Lists inside a record are kept as text in a single cell. If the JSON is an object whose values are arrays, each array becomes its own sheet.

How do I convert JSON to Excel?
Select the JSON file and click Convert to Excel. An array of objects becomes a sheet with a header row of field names and one row per object, saved as an XLSX workbook.
What happens to nested JSON?
Nested objects are turned into extra columns with dotted names, such as customer.name and customer.email. Arrays inside a record are written as text in one cell so nothing is lost.
Can one JSON file become several sheets?
Yes. If the top level is an object whose values are arrays, such as {"orders": [...], "customers": [...]}, each array becomes its own sheet named after its key.
Why does it say my JSON is not valid?
JSON is strict: keys need double quotes, and trailing commas or comments are not allowed. The message shows where the problem is. JSON Formatter can help you find and fix it.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded to a server?
No. The file is read and converted inside your browser on your own device, so customer lists, prices and payroll data are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded it works even offline.
