One image that scrolls like a web page
A long image is the easiest way to share a menu, a flyer, a receipt or a short document in a chat or on social media: everyone can open a picture and scroll through it, with no PDF viewer and no swiping page by page. The pages are rendered at the same width and stacked top to bottom with nothing in between, or with a thin grey gap if you prefer to see where each page ends.
1080 pixels wide suits phones and keeps the file small; 2400 pixels keeps small print sharp when zooming in. JPG gives much smaller files and is accepted everywhere, PNG keeps text perfectly crisp. Browsers cannot create images taller than about 32,000 pixels (on iPhone and iPad even less), so a long document is made slightly narrower to fit, or split into several long images, cut between pages and downloaded together as a ZIP. The page tells you when that happens.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a PDF into one long image?
Select the PDF, choose the width and format, and click Make long image. All the pages are stacked from top to bottom in a single JPG or PNG, which downloads straight away.
How many pages fit in one long image?
At 1080 pixels wide, about 20 A4 pages fit in one image in most browsers. Longer documents are made a bit narrower or split into several long images, and the page says which. Choosing a smaller width fits more pages in each image.
Should I choose JPG or PNG?
JPG for sharing in chats and on social media: the file is much smaller and every app accepts it. PNG when the document is mostly small text or diagrams and you want them perfectly crisp, accepting a bigger file.
Can I get each page as a separate image instead?
Yes, use PDF to JPG or PDF to PNG, which save one image per page in a ZIP file.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. Rendering the pages happens in your browser, on your own device. The file is never sent anywhere, so it also works with confidential documents and keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
