Split CSV in 3 steps
- Select your CSV file, or drop it on the box.
- Choose how many rows each file should have, or how many equal parts you want.
- Click Split CSV and download all the parts in a ZIP.
When a CSV is too big to use
Mailing services, CRMs, online shops and marketplaces often limit imports to a few thousand rows, and Excel stops at 1,048,576 rows. Splitting the file is the quickest way through those limits: each part is a normal CSV with the same header row on top, so it imports exactly like the original.
Rows are never cut in half, even when a value contains line breaks or separators inside quotes, and the rows keep their original order across the parts. The parts are numbered with leading zeros, such as contacts-01.csv, so they sort correctly in any folder. The separator and line endings of the original file are kept.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a CSV file into multiple files?
Select your CSV file, choose the number of rows per file or the number of equal parts, and click Split CSV. You download a ZIP with the numbered parts. Every part starts with the header row of the original, so each one works on its own.
Is the header row kept in every file?
Yes. The first row of the original is treated as the header and repeated at the top of every part. The row counts you choose refer to data rows, so a file of 1,000 rows has 1,001 lines including the header.
How do I split a CSV into two files?
Choose "2 equal parts" and click Split CSV. The data rows are divided in half, keeping their order, and each half gets the header row. If the number of rows is odd, the first file has one row more.
Can I split a CSV that is too big for Excel?
Yes. The file is read directly by your browser, not by Excel, so it can have more than a million rows. Choose a size such as 50,000 rows or a number of equal parts, and each part then opens in Excel normally.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. The CSV is split inside your browser on your own device, so contact lists, orders and other private data never leave your computer. Once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working even without an internet connection.
