A handwritten signature, not a certified one
Most everyday paperwork only needs your usual signature on the page: a rental agreement, a school permission slip, a job offer, a delivery note or a form your bank sent by email. Instead of printing, signing and scanning, you draw the signature once on screen, or type your name in a handwriting style, and drop it on the page. It is added as a transparent image, so the text underneath stays visible and sharp.
Be clear about what this is: a simple electronic signature, worth the same as a scanned one. It is not a certified digital signature backed by a certificate (such as the qualified signatures of the EU eIDAS rules, or those made with an electronic ID card), which locks the document cryptographically. Some contracts, tax returns and official procedures require that kind; if the recipient asks for a digital certificate, use the tool they point you to.
Frequently asked questions
How do I sign a PDF for free?
Select your PDF here and create your signature by drawing it, typing your name or uploading a photo of it. Drag it to the right spot and resize it with the corner handle, then click Sign PDF and the signed file downloads. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on documents.
Is a signature added this way legally valid?
In many countries a simple electronic signature like this one is accepted for everyday agreements, just as a scanned signature would be. On its own it does not prove who signed, and some documents legally require a qualified or certificate-based digital signature. When in doubt, ask the recipient what they accept.
Can I sign a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Open this page on your iPhone or Android phone, select the PDF from Files or your downloads, and sign in the box with your finger. Drag the signature into place with one finger and save the signed PDF. Nothing needs to be installed.
Can I add my signature or initials to every page?
Yes. Place your signature or initials where you want them and choose "Every page" before signing. They are added at the same position on each page, which is how many contracts ask you to initial every page.
Is my signature uploaded or saved anywhere?
No. Your PDF and your signature stay inside your browser on your own device; nothing is sent to us or stored. When you close the page, the signature you drew is gone, so nobody else can reuse it.
