Lossless from start to finish
Both TIFF and PNG can store an image without any loss, so converting between them keeps every pixel exactly as it was. PNG is the better choice for the web, presentations and design tools, because browsers, phones and apps such as Canva, Figma, Google Slides and Word all show it. Transparent backgrounds in the TIFF stay transparent.
Uncompressed, LZW, ZIP, PackBits, JPEG and fax (CCITT) TIFFs are supported, and each page of a multi-page file becomes its own PNG. Images with 16 bits per channel, common in professional photography, are reduced to 8 bits per channel, which is what screens display anyway.

How do I convert TIFF to PNG?
Select the TIFF or TIF file and click Convert to PNG. The PNG downloads straight away. A multi-page TIFF or several files give a ZIP with one PNG per page. You can convert up to 20 files at a time.
Is TIFF to PNG lossless?
Yes for normal 8-bit images: every pixel is copied exactly, so the PNG looks identical to the TIFF. PNG usually compresses better than an uncompressed TIFF, so the new file is often smaller as well.
Does the PNG keep transparency?
Yes. If the TIFF has an alpha channel, transparent and semi-transparent areas are kept in the PNG, which makes it ideal for logos and cut-out product photos that go on coloured backgrounds.
Should I choose PNG or JPG?
Choose PNG for scans of text, drawings, screenshots and anything with transparency, where sharp edges matter. Choose JPG for photos when you want a small file to share. Both converters are free on this site.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Images are decoded and converted inside your browser on your own device, so scans of documents and private photos are never sent to us or stored anywhere. Once the page has loaded it keeps working even without an internet connection.
